- Advancement of Conservation Data Science, GIS, Remote Sensing for biodiversity conservation in the Congo basin and WWF Germany
- Acquisition, organisation, analysis, and management of geospatial and remote sensing data from multiple sources and creation of a DataHUB.
- Creation of data visualisation, monitoring systems with maps and dashboards (on WWFs ArcGIS Online GLOBIL HUB or other platforms) and other tools for end-users.
- Support in developing land cover change assessment with existing scripts on GEE Sepal for monthly risk map of zoonotic outbreaks.
- Developing wildlife corridor modelling and correlation analysis.
- Conceptual and operational development of new technology and earth observation applications and methods in conservation projects
Requirements
- University degree (at least Bachelor, Master or equivalent desired) in one of the following areas: Spatial Data Science, GIS, Data Visualisation, Geoinformation, Geoinformatics, Environmental Informatics, Earth observation, Environmental Sciences, Information design or related fields.
- Excellent knowledge in geodata architectures, data integration from multiple sources.
- Good knowledge in data visualisation: development of web GIS applications, dashboards, websites, and spatial data portals.
- Good GIS, programming/scripting (e.g., R, Python, Javascript) skill and use of Google Earth Engine/FAO SEPAL API.
- Preferably good knowledge of the ESRI product range, especially ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and ArcGIS Pro or open-source GIS software suites such as QGIS, leaflet etc.
- Desirably experience with spatial analysis and modelling for environmental issues. remote sensing and knowledge of forest, biodiversity, One Health, the Congo basin, or with a strong interest to learn more.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that enable you to manage multiple tasks and priorities and achieve a high standard of work, taking initiative in an open, self-organised, structured, and detail-oriented manner.
- Good skills and interest in teamwork - especially with people from different cultural backgrounds, experience in international cooperation, with conservation projects and involvement of local stakeholders.
- Fluent in English, knowledge of French and German desirable.
- Willingness to conduct work trips to the project countries.
