The FSCF was established this year in honor of the late Gustavo Fonseca, former director of programs at the Global Environmental Facility ( GEF ). The GEF funds the fund, whereas Re:wild administers the fund while using expertise from the IUCN's Species Survival Commission Specialits Groups.
Project duration should be between 12 and 18 months and should finish before 30 September 2026
Eligible applicants are individual conservationists of 35 years or younger. They have to be citizen of a GEF-recipient country, and the project needs to take place in a GEF-recipient country, but not necessarily the same country. The current call focuses on countries of the African continent and the Indian ocean (see be low for other countries).
Applicants do not need to be linked to an NGO or academic institution, but it is preferable.

A call covering the Americas' GEF-recipient countries is announced for 15 Jan. to 15 April 2025.
Personal note : This is one of the few early career opportunities that I am aware of that do not require an affiliation. Since this is GEF supported, the FSCF may last a long time.
All information in this post is provided as is. Requirements and conditions apply. Read the call and guidelines carefully.
